From Eugene H. Peterson’s Praying With the Psalms:
But they soon forgot his works; they did not wait for his counsel. ~ Psalm 106:13
Forgetfulness (v. 13) and insurrection (v. 16) are often found paired. When we forget God’s ways of providing for us, we impatiently seek to set up our own self-government. And our rebellious attempts to lead ourselves can be carried out only in an atmosphere devoid of the memory of grace.
PRAYER: Merciful Lord, grant that my remembrance of your ways will lead me to a more trusting obedience, and grant that my obedience may improve my memory, so that I may not forget anything you have done for me or quarrel with any of your commands. Amen
